The Importance of Depression is an attempted celebration of self-acceptance and love. In reality, these songs explore, through excessive self-reflection, my struggle loving other people. I can't color all depressive episodes and their impact as good or bad, but I see my mental health as more of a permanent lens that I've learned to practice utilizing as a entry point to start accepting my defining quirks in an evidence-based way.
